Remove Laminate Vanity Top

Vanity tops don t have one standard size and are cut to match standard vanity sizes.

Remove each tile from a tile countertop. In most cases the vanity top is glued to the cabinet and you have to break the glue bond by inserting a putty knife between the cabinet and the vanity top and tapping it with a hammer. And it has a really dated counter top and sink. Cultured marble countertops attach to a vanity with silicone or acrylic adhesive at the upper rim of the cabinet.

It used to be an oak color typical of what you find in the store. First carefully pry the tile running up the backsplash away from the wall. Measure the width at the front and back of the vanity top and measure from the front edge to the back of your old countertop to find out the depth. Remove the rounded bullnose tile along the front of the countertop. My next idea was to replace the top and faucet.

I painted it with annie sloan chalk paint in graphite and sealed it with poly. This frees the countertop and also reduces its weight making it much easier to lift out. Remove the tile from the surface of the countertop with a flat chisel. The vanity in this bathroom in my opinion is too big for the space.
