Remove Damp Under Carpet

Step 2 pour small amounts of hot water over the stain.

Remove damp under carpet.

Work in small sections at a time. If your carpet is removable move it outside and hang it over a sturdy clothesline. If the damp carpet is under a car mat remove the mat after checking to see if it contains any moisture or mold. If you don t have a wet vacuum dab the damp area with towels until it s feeling a little drier.

If you do not dilute the calcium chloride the spill will get larger as it continues to absorb moisture in the air. Remove as much moisture as possible with a wet dry vacuum. Depending on the size of the mold patch use either one or two cups of baking soda. Step 2 remove the moisture.

This will dilute the calcium chloride. After thoroughly cleansing the area with the vinegar solution sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda over the carpet. Let the vinegar solution sit for about two minutes then dab away excess moisture with a dry cloth until the carpet is barely wet. Remove as much water from the damp carpet as possible using a wet vacuum.

Sun the carpet if possible. Before getting to the actual mold remove all the moisture that s in your carpet. 24 48 hours of direct sunlight will help kill mold spores and remove moisture that encourages mold growth. Remove the spilt calcium chloride crystals and moisture from the carpet by vacuuming the area thoroughly with a wet dry vacuum.

Soak up all the moisture from your carpet with dry absorbent towels.
